A Message from Mr. Picard, Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

First and foremost, a big merci to everyone who joined us on September 26 to meet the teachers! We truly value the opportunity to connect with you.

At Branton School, we prioritize maintaining open and continuous communication with our families. Throughout the year, you will receive our Weekly Newsletter to keep you informed. We firmly believe that parents and guardians play a key role in their child’s education, and we appreciate the valuable insights you share with us. Should you have any questions, concerns, or important information about your child’s learning, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Building strong partnerships with our parent/guardian community is at the core of what we do, and we are committed to providing timely and relevant updates. I encourage all parents to review the Calgary Board of Education’s Administrative Regulation 6005: Student Code of Conduct and Administrative Regulation 6006: Progressive Discipline. These guidelines are key to fostering a positive and respectful learning environment.

Our goal is for every student to come to school feeling safe, supported, and ready to learn. As a team, we are dedicated to creating a secure and respectful atmosphere for all students. Strengthening relationships within our learning community will always be a priority.

As we celebrate Women’s History Month 2024, let us take this opportunity to honor the remarkable contributions of women throughout history and within our own community. At Branton School, we are committed to fostering an environment where all students—girls and boys alike—are inspired by the achievements, resilience, and leadership of women, past and present. This month serves as a powerful reminder to encourage our daughters to dream big, pursue their goals with confidence, and understand that they, too, are capable of shaping the future. Together, as parents and educators, let’s continue to empower the next generation to break barriers, embrace diversity, and recognize the limitless potential that exists within each of them

On Tuesday, October 1, Branton School will be welcoming Cree artist, Curt Young, who will be spending the day with students in observance of Orange Shirt Day. Curt Young is a performing artist who will be sharing traditional knowledge with students, while weaving in themes of truth and reconciliation. His sessions will include an overview of his traditional dance regalia, a presentation of his instruments, as well as an introductory dance lesson for the grass and jingle dress dances.

On Friday, October 4, we are celebrating: World Teacher's Day 2024: Valuing Teacher Voices! Wherever you find something extraordinary, you’ll find the fingerprints of a great teacher.” — Arne Duncan, Former United States Education Secretary

Teachers, and our education colleagues, have a wealth of wisdom and experience that makes a real difference in our lives. Their knowledge transforms us, creating a lasting impact on our learning journey. As we celebrate the 30th anniversary of World Teacher's Day, let's honour teachers’ contributions and embrace the 2024 theme: Valuing teacher voices.

Your continued feedback, involvement, and support are invaluable to us.

Thank you for being an essential part of our school community.

Sebastien Picard, Principal
