📌 April 18 – Good Friday
There will be no school on Friday, April 18 in observance of Good Friday.

🏫 April 28 – School Council Meeting (7:00–9:00 p.m.)
Our next School Council meeting will take place on Monday, April 28 , both in person at Branton and online . All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend!

📝 School Supplies Reminder
We kindly ask parents to check in with their children to see if they may need additional school supplies—such as lined paper, pencils, or erasers—to help them fi nish the school year strong. At this point in the year, teachers are noticing more students asking for these basic items, especially in Grades 7 to 9. Please note that we are only able to provide supplies for our Grade 6 and CSSI/ACCESS students. Your support in helping your child stay equipped for learning is greatly appreciated!

🏫 April 28 – School Council Meeting

Join us for a short and engaging presentation from Dr. Rebecca Haines-Saah, “Youth Drug Prevention 101.” Hear what prevention science tells us about effective drug education, get practical strategies for talking to teens about substance use, and learn what parents, schools and communities can do to support youth and keep them safer.

Rebecca is a public health sociologist and an associate professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences and the Mathison Centre for Mental Health Research and Education at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary.

🚗 Traffic & Safety Reminder

Please remember to respect the 30 km/h speed limit when driving near the school. We sincerely appreciate your patience during busy drop-off and pick-up times. Our goal is for all students, staff, and families to feel safe and welcomed as part of a respectful learning community here at Branton.

 📣 2025–2026 Bell Times

We are pleased to confirm that Branton’s bell times will remain the same for the 2025–2026 school year. We hope this consistency will help families plan with confidence.

Last Chance

As we begin the early stages of planning for the 2025–2026 school year, we invite parents to share any important information that may help us in the creation of next year’s class lists. If you would like us to consider (without guarantee) a specific request—such as your child working well with one particular peer— please email Mr. Ormiston by April 17 ( pjormiston@cbe.ab.ca ) . We kindly ask that you limit your request to 1–2 peers , based on learning compatibility and positive support between students. If there is a situation where your child should not be placed with another student, we also ask that you let us know. Teachers have already started this process, and we appreciate your insights as we move forward. In early May 2025, students will also be invited to select their 2025–2026 Enrichment courses .
