Principal's Message

Dear Branton Families

I want to take a moment to highlight the incredible experience our Grade 6 and CSSI/ACCESS students had last week at Camp Kindle. It was a week filled with learning, teamwork, and unforgettable memories in the great outdoors. A big thank you to our volunteers and teachers for their outstanding work in ensuring a safe, enriching, and fun time for all!

Digital Citizenship Respect

At Branton School, we believe that ensuring the safety and respectful digital behavior of our students is a shared responsibility between home and school. We’ve noticed instances where students are posting photos and full names of peers on social media without consent. While it's difficult to monitor all online activity, having regular conversations at home about what is appropriate to share online is essential. We encourage families to review resources like MediaSmarts (www.mediasmarts.ca) to support these important discussions. Together, we can help students develop a strong sense of digital responsibility and respect for others.

Upcoming Enrichment Course Selection – Week of May 5–9

During the week of May 5–9, all of our current Grade 6, 7, and 8 students (who will be moving to Grades 7, 8, and 9 next school year) will be selecting their 2025–2026 Enrichment courses with the support of Mr. Ormiston.

To help you prepare for these important choices, we will be sending home the full list of next year’s Enrichment course offerings next week, so that you and your child can review and discuss the options together ahead of selection week.

We are also excited to introduce two “new” Enrichment courses for the 2025–2026 school year:

  • FLA +: This course is designed for students who need additional support in French Language Arts. While it is automatically assigned to all Grade 7 Late French Immersion students in Semester 1, it will now be available to any student who may be struggling in reading, writing, or speaking in French.
  • Math +: This course will support students requiring extra help in mathematics. We especially recommend it for students who have received “1s” in Math on their report card. Unlike FLA+, this course is not intended for students currently achieving a “3” or “4.”

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. We look forward to helping each student build a learning schedule that supports their growth and success.

Thank you for your ongoing support! Warm regards,

Sébastien Picard - Principal
