Oki, Danit'astada, Âba wathtec, Tânisi, Taanishi, Bonjour, Hello Branton Families
As we approach the final month of school, beginning next week with the start of June, we want to take a moment to thank you for the ongoing support and partnership you’ve shown throughout the year. Your involvement plays a vital role in your child’s success—and in the success of our entire school community.
As always, we remain deeply committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for all students right up to the last day of school. We do sometimes observe an increase in challenging behaviours during the final weeks, and we want to assure you that we will continue to hold high expectations for student conduct and learning. With your continued partnership, we know we can finish the year on a strong and positive note.
As we move into the final month of the school year, there are many important updates and upcoming events to share with you.

Reminder: Afternoon Attendance Following PAT Exams
I want to take a moment to clarify expectations around student attendance during the afternoons following PAT exams in June. While families do have the option to authorize their Grade 7-8-9 child to leave school early on these days, classes will continue as scheduled, and valuable instructional time will still be provided. Recently, I’ve heard from a few parents who were under the impression that some teachers may have encouraged students to get the early dismissal form signed. I want to be clear that no teacher should be advising or encouraging students to leave early—this decision belongs solely to families. That being said, I am committed to ensuring Branton School continues to meet the instructional hour requirements outlined in the Alberta Education Act, and all afternoon classes remain part of our official school schedule. I strongly encourage students to stay for the full day, as every hour of learning is meaningful. Thank you for your understanding and support as we continue to provide a strong fi nish to the school year.
Q: Can a Grade 7-8-9 student change their mind in June after their parents signed the authorization to go home after PATs?
A: No. Once the authorization is signed, students are expected to follow it.
Q: Can a Grade 7-8-9 student who is dismissed on a PAT afternoon stay inside the school or go outside and come back in?
A: No. Once dismissed, the student must go home.

This feature will be turned back on again on June 23 to enable Parents access to their student’s report cards. Branton School will not be printing hard copy report cards. All student report cards will be available to view or print through your PowerSchool access.

The grade 6 students of Branton School collected donations to support the Alberta Children's Hospital when they heard that one of their classmates had been seriously injured earlier in April. Today, a representative of the Alberta Children's Hospital came to present a cheque to our school to thank our students for their kindness and generosity. Students together collected $153.85 in total to support children in need of medical care at the Alberta Children's Hospital.
