Thank You Volunteers

Dear Parent & Legal Guardian Volunteers,

Since the beginning of September, multiple parents volunteered their time to support our programs and life at Branton School. As an example, parents help us in our basketball program, our Fun Lunches, the School Council, field trips, and directly inside the classrooms.

I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the incredible work all these parents have done in supporting our classroom, teachers, and students. Your dedication and commitment to our students have made a significant impact on their learning experience. We are grateful for your time, energy, and enthusiasm, and we could not have done it without you. Thank you for being such an integral part of our school community. We can and will continue to build a culture of support and engagement that benefits everyone involved.

Music Notes

Morning practices will start next week in preparation for the concert on December 12. Here is the schedule:

  • Grade 7 - Tuesday December 5. Students need to arrive between 7:15-7:25 am with rehearsal starting at 7:30 am. It is really important to come as this will most likely be the only one we have before the concert. Please do not arrive earlier, as I will not be letting students in until 7:15am. Thank you!
  • Grade 8 – Wednesday December 6. Students need to arrive between 7:15-7:25 am with rehearsal starting at 7:30 am. Again, please do not arrive earlier, as I will not be letting students in until 7:15am. Thank you!

Band Cookie Fundraiser

The deadline to order the cookies online is 11:59pm TUESDAY, DECEMBER 5. Please ensure that your customers choose the correct child so you can deliver the cookies to them. Paper orders are due by 3:00 pm December 5th and all money must accompany the orders. Please remember to submit only one cheque for the total of the order. Cash is also acceptable.

Delivery will be on December 15. More details for time to come.

Band Concert

Our band concert is scheduled for Tuesday, December 12th. It is at Branton School and will start at 7:00 pm. There is no fee to attend, but we are asking for donations to the food bank – items or cash – to help support those in need.

Students need to arrive as follows:

Grade 7                6:30 pm.

Grade 8                Woodwinds – 6:15 pm to help with set up
Brass – 6:30 pm. These students will help with clean up at the end.

Grade 9                Woodwinds – 6:15 pm to help with set up
Brass – 6:30 pm. These students will help with clean up at the end.

Concert attire is our black band shirt with dark colored pants. I am hoping that our orders will be in before the concert. In the event that they are not, please have on hand, a plain black shirt – either golf style or plain t-shirt will work. If you did not order a shirt, I will be contacting the supplier to open the store again for you to place your order. This is our uniform and we will have many performances to wear them this year. Thanks!

If you have any questions, please email me jlbaird@cbe.ab.ca.

Wrestling

On Thursday this week, our girls’ wrestling team competed in their first tournament at WD Pratt school. We had 7 athletes take first place in their pools. In the overall team competition, the Branton wrestlers had the most pins out of any school and came in FIRST PLACE OVERALL! Congratulations to our girls’ wrestling team! On Friday, our boys’ wrestling team will compete in their first tournament. Good luck tonight to these wrestlers! - Chelsey Lackner Boese

Grade 7 At the Christmas Carol

(Thanks to our volunteers and teachers for this great opportunity!)

Lates

We have experienced a very high number of late students in the last few days (+45 students late/day). We recognize that ‘life happens’, however, we would like to emphasize the importance of being on time.

Procedures for Students Leaving During Class

Many have asked for clarification on the procedures for students coming and going during class time for appointments, etc. We would ask that you plan with your child prior to departing and send them with a note that they can show the teacher of the class they are in, then bring the note to the office and sign out to come and meet you. We appreciate your assistance in helping to minimize interruption to your child’s classroom.
