  • December 22: Last day of school before Winter Break

Parking in Front of the School

It seems that a lot of parents drop off their children in the morning, and stay parked in their vehicles. This is making it difficult for drop-offs. Please be mindful of keeping the ‘loading/bus zone’ in front of the school clear. Thank you for your cooperation.

Rock Band Concert

Our Rock Band Club students have been working hard to put on a show for you, and we hope you come check it out the evening of Thursday, Dec. 14. The Show starts at 7pm. All are welcome, and we have hearing protection for the younger kids! We’ll also happily accept optional donations to our holiday Food Bank Drive and donations to our club at the door. See you then! Questions can be directed to Mr. Farrell or M. Lavoie.

Music Notes Band Concert

Our band concert is scheduled for Tuesday, December 12. It is at Branton School and will start at 7:00 pm. There is no fee to attend, but we are asking for donations to the food bank – items or cash – to help support those in need.

Students need to arrive as follows:

Grade 7               6:30 pm.
Grade 8              Woodwinds – 6:15 pm to help with set up
Brass – 6:30 pm. These students will help with clean up at the end.
Grade 9              Woodwinds – 6:15 pm to help with set up
Brass – 6:30 pm. These students will help with clean up at the end.

Concert attire is our black band shirt with dark colored pants. Band shirts that were ordered have arrived and gone home today (hopefully). If you did not order one, please have a plain black shirt – either golf style or plain t-shirt will work. I will be contacting the supplier to open the store again for you to place your order. This is our uniform and we will have many performances to wear them at this year. Thanks!

Band Cookie Fundraiser

Thank you to everyone who ordered cookies!! We had a lot of support and there will be much happiness baked into the holidays.

Pick up is as follows: Friday, December 15. Time to be determined. Please watch email for details.

I have a window delivery and then it needs to be sorted. When that is done, pick up can happen. Please be mindful of times, as I do not want to be at school all evening and there is nowhere to store the items for a later date.

Also – please come and collect your entire order. Please do not send your individual customers, as I cannot split up orders. You collect the product for everyone that ordered from you and then you distribute it to them.

Thank you for understanding.

If you have any questions, please email me jlbaird@cbe.ab.ca

Mission Impossible

Grade 7 Science | Dissection

In Science 7, as part of our Ecosystems unit students are exploring the barn owl's place in its food chain by dissecting owl pellets and identifying the bones of the owl's prey. This year, it was more difficult to find owl pellets because of forest fires and the destruction of barn owl habitats in North America.

Legion Contest

Annually, the Legion sponsors a poster and literary contest. This year more than a dozen Branton students entered their poems. I am pleased to announce that we had 3 winners. In first place was Yasmine Ogunbadejo, in second place was Emma Ramirez-Guess and in third was Nila Hardy. Several other students were given appreciation certificates. Congratulations to all. What a great way to honor our veterans!
