A Message from our Principal and Assistant Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the end of the year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and partnership with us. This year has been a challenging one, but together we have navigated through it with resilience and determination.
I am proud of our students for their hard work and dedication, and I am grateful to our teachers and staff for their unwavering commitment to providing a safe and nurturing learning environment for our children.
As we look ahead to the new year, I am excited about the possibilities that await us. I am confident that we will continue to work together to provide the best possible education for our students.
On behalf of the entire school community, I wish you and your family a happy and healthy holiday season. May the new year bring you joy, peace, and prosperity.
Joyeux Noël et Bonne Année 2024
Sincerely,
Sebastien Picard, Paul Ormiston,
Principal Assistant Principal
MyCBE Access for Parents
Effective January 8, MyCBE marks, comments and statuses will be turned off to the public to enable Teachers to begin working on Report Card information. This feature will be turned back on again on January 30th to enable Parents access to their student’s report cards. Branton School will not be printing hard copy report cards. All student report cards will be available to view or print through your PowerSchool access.
Please note that January 12, 2024 is the deadline for students to submit work to their teachers.
It's important to know how your child is doing in school. Knowing more about your child's interests, strengths and areas for development is critical to help you support your child's learning. One way that schools share information about student learning and achievement is through report cards.
Over the past few years, the Calgary Board of Education has worked to review and improve the way that teachers assess and report on student learning. Principals, teachers, specialists and education directors are working across our system to develop consistent and clear assessment and reporting practices for all schools.
If you have any concerns about your child's learning or parent communication, please share them with your child's teacher or principal.

The 2023-2024 School Enrolment Report was presented to the Board of Trustees. The official end of September count showed that total student enrolment was 138,244 – an increase of 7,029 students, or 5.4% from the previous school year. LINK
Attendance
Regular attendance is essential for student learning and is governed by the School Act of the Province of Alberta. Students are required to attend every day the school is in operation, unless prohibited from doing so because of illness, a family emergency, or the observance of a religious holiday. If a student must be absent from school, we ask that his or her parents telephone the school at 403-777-7440 and press 5000 for the absence line to report the absence. The school office will determine if the absence is excused. All unreported absences are recorded as unexcused. There are no optional attendance days on our calendar.
Did you know this about Instagram?
Instagram requires everyone to be at least 13 years old before they can create an account. Aside from the stated age requirement of 13, parents must know about privacy, cyberbullying, and content concerns. If your son or daughter has instagram, please take some time to view your child’s feed, including any direct messaging. Be aware that sometimes teens create alternate fake instagram accounts. The average child does not need a social media account as it is more complicated to keep our students safe online than to trust them to play outside by themselves.

Communication from Banff Trail Community
This is our annual reminder that rink operations are underway at Banff Trail and that ice conditions are not favourable for your students to be on the rink. The weather is not in our favour at the moment and what ice we do have is quite thin. Although it’s not often we hope for cold weather, we are! Students have been very cooperative in the past with our requests and we hope they can help us by staying off the rink.
