Dear Parents,

I hope this message finds you well. As we welcome the new year, I extend my warmest greetings and trust you had a rejuvenating winter break with your loved ones. Our school community is eager to embrace the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in the upcoming months.

We look forward to the continued collaboration between parents, students, and staff to create a nurturing environment for learning and growth. Your support is invaluable, and together, we can make this semester a successful and enriching experience for our students.

Wrestling

Due to a scheduling conflict, the Tom Baines Wrestling Tournament has had a change in date and time. ALL Wrestlers, both Girls’ and Boys’ Teams will be competing on Saturday Jan. 20. See details below:

• Girls: doors open at 8am, competition starts at 9am, estimated completion at 11:30am
• Boys: warmup at 11:30am, competition starts at 12pm, estimated completion at 5pm

In Addition:
The Final Tournament of the Year occurs on Jan. 31. The students will attend school as normal in the morning, then we will be taking a bus to Sunridge Badminton Centre for the tournament start time of 10am. This Divisional tournament is projected to end around 2:30pm and there is no transportation back to the school. You must arrange your child’s own way home.

In addition, we need Parent Volunteers to help supervise at this tournament. You can drive yourself there and home, but would be required to be available to help watch our wrestlers throughout the duration of the tournament. Please e-mail Ms. Lackner (chlackner@cbe.ab.ca) if you are able to help out with this!

We do have a 3-Question Survey for parents to complete (optional) by January 19, 2024 (LINK

MyCBE / PowerSchool Access for Parents

Effective January 8, PowerSchool marks, comments and statuses will be turned off to the public to enable Teachers to begin working on Report Card information. This feature will be turned back on again on January 30 to enable Parents access to their student’s report cards. Branton School will not be printing hard copy report cards. All student report cards will be available to view or print through your PowerSchool access.

As we posted on our December 15, 2023 Weekly Newsletter, January 12, 2024 is the deadline for students to submit their work to their teachers.

Semester 2 Enrichment Change Requests

Students can request to change one or more of their Semester 2 enrichment courses. Students will be able to pick up the change request form in the office starting on Tuesday, January 16th. These forms must be completed, signed by a parent or guardian and returned to the office by Friday, January 19. If a change can be accommodated, the student will find out by Friday, January 26th before Semester 2 begins. If you have any questions about the change request procedure, please contact Mr. Ormiston (pjormiston@cbe.ab.ca).

2024-25 CBE Instructional Calendar Now Available

The 2024-25 instructional calendar has been finalized and posted on the CBE website along with a tentative 2025-26 instructional calendar. The first day of school is Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024.
