Happenings
June 10: Deadline for students to submit their work to their teachers.
A few reminders about Track and Field
Track Day is Monday June 10th. All athletes are asked to arrive at Foothills Athletic Park (2431 Crowchild Trail NW) by 8:30am. If a student is participating in an event that begins at 8:30-8:45am, they should arrive earlier with time to warm up and prepare for their event.
We are planning to have a large green Branton tent set up in the southwest corner near the hill. This will be our school's area for the day.
If your child is NOT on the Track and Field team, it is a regular day at Branton School and they ARE NOT to attend Foothills Athletic Park. Any students that do show up unexpectedly will have families called to come pick their child up.
If you have further questions please contact Ms. Street at vvstreet@cbe.ab.ca

Report Cards Available Online June 26, 2024
It is fast approaching the time of year to report student achievement through a report card available on-line on June 26. You will be able to view the report card through MyCBE. Once logged in, you will see an additional tab titled “Report Card”. Select this tab to view the report card. Should you wish to have a printed report card, please email bcrustad@cbe.ab.ca before June 24th to arrange a time for you to collect a copy from the school during school hours. We also ask that if you are NOT returning to Branton School and you have not already notified us of your intentions for next year, please let the school know ASAP.
Students who expect to leave the city prior to distribution of final reports who wish to have a printed copy should be asked to provide the school office with a self-addressed, pre-stamped envelope for the school to use to mail the final report to them.
Appeals Day June 28 - 8:00-12:00
Should any questions or concerns with the final report card arise, students and their families may contact teachers by individual email to schedule a meeting to discuss further. (List of Teacher emails)
Please note the Appeals Day is scheduled on June 28 between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM to discuss any questions that Parents may have about their student’s report card marks and comments. This is not a Parent -Teacher Conference, it is only for issues that may have arisen from final grades or marks.
Library Book Returns
With the end of the school year quickly approaching, we need to make sure that our library books are returned and accounted for.
Please take some time to look around the house/classroom/lockers and return any overdue books that belong to the school.
The final week for book exchanges will be June 3-7 , with all books needing to be back at school no later than June 11 and fines paid by June 14.
Science Olympics
On Saturday, May 26, grade 7 students at Branton went to the APEGA Science Olympics to compete in a triad of science and engineering challenges, including building an amphibious vehicle that can operate well in wetlands despite the difficult terrain. The Branton Science team achieved significant success in their endeavor and ended the competition in second place, with a trophy to celebrate."

Music Notes
Our year end concert is next week, Tuesday June 11. (as stated in previous newsletters). Of course, the band uniform is the required attire with black or dark pants. (please no sweats or leggings).
The official start time will be 7:00 pm, but I will need students earlier to help with organizing the gym, and getting set up. I ask that parents please wait outside until this is done so I can work faster! Thank you. Here are the arrival times for everyone:
- 6:15 Grade 8 band (all) to help with gym set up. 6:15 ALL PERCUSSION players Grade 8 & 9 only
- 6:30 Grade 7 & 9 students
At the end of the night, ALL PERCUSSIONISTS and the GRADE 7 students will be cleaning up. I need these students to stay and help with clean up. Please do not take your child out early, the more hands I have the better and faster it goes!! I do ask that parents exit out of the gym and leave a clear path to the bandroom so we can do this. Thank you!
