- dug into quick poetry analysis
- reviewed and practiced annotation tro read a text more deepl:y
reviewed MEALparagraph structure, then used it to analyze a short story
- picked away at grammar and IPUnctuation !lessons eacn week
- explored free reading to genernte appreciation and reap the benefits (vocabulary, fluency, stress relief, increased focus, exposure to ideas, etc.)
begun a creative getting-to-know-you assignment
In addition, the 8s have listened to a short story and discussed it in small groups, and the 9s have viewed a film adaptation of a short story and compared it to the written text.
Finally, I would like to let you know that I will have a student teacher for six weeks in the fall and eight weeks in the spring. Mr. Carter Lederhouse will be taking up teaching responsibilities, under my supervision. Having met recently, I am impressed my Mr. Lederhouse's thoughtful observations and questions, his love of literature, and his kid energy. I Iook forward to working with him.

Student Mental Health
The Public Health Agency of Canada describes positive mental health as “the capacity of each and all of us to feel, think and act in ways that enhance our ability to enjoy life and deal with the challenges we face.” It is a positive sense of emotional and spiritual well-being that respects the importance of culture, equity, social justice, interconnections, and personal dignity (Mental Health in Schools, 2020). People who are mentally healthy:
- have a sense of contentment
- can deal with stress and bounce back from adversity
- have a sense of purpose and meaning
- can build and maintain fulfilling relationships
- are flexible and can adapt to change
- balance work and play, rest and activity
- have self-confidence and high self-esteem
