Free Workshop for all Branton parents (Branton will pay for this workshop)
We are very pleased to welcome Tanya Keto (MEd), Registered Psychologist, Clinic Director at AVERY Family and School Psychology Services to present an online session to all parents on October 26 from 7-8:30pm. This is a 90 minutes workshop/information session about ADHD: What Parents Need to Know. All Branton teachers met Ms. Keto in September for a morning Professional Learning. We want to include you, parents, in this important information session.
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders in children. It is usually first diagnosed in childhood and often lasts into adulthood. Children with ADHD may have trouble paying attention, controlling impulsive behaviours, or over-activity. There are three different types of ADHD, depending on which symptoms are strongest in the individual, and each of these subtypes may impact children differently, especially at school.
The classroom environment can pose challenges for a child with ADHD. The very tasks these students find the most difficult—sitting still, listening quietly, concentrating—are the ones they are required to do all day long. Perhaps most frustrating of all is that most of these children want to be able to learn and behave like their neurotypical peers. Neurological deficits, not unwillingness, keep kids with attention deficit disorder from learning in traditional ways. Educators and parents play a key role in setting these students on a path for success!

Ukraine
Branton community continues to stand with Ukraine that has been fighting Russian aggression for over 600 days now. On October 16, 2023, Ukraine marked 600 days since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion. 600 days of grief, fear, losses, destruction, and anger… But not a single day of weakness. During all this time, Ukrainians have demonstrated strength, resilience, and courage that cannot be broken. And their determination and heroism have been sustained by the ever-so-vital help of their friends and de facto allies. 600 days on, Ukraine is united and not alone. It is stronger and more resolute than ever. Whatever dark clouds might hover in the skies, the bright sun of victory will scatter them.
